Shiva Temple Aarti Maha Kumbh 2025 Bengaluru Techie Suicide Kolkata Water System Nikita Singhania Govt alerts versus taking in jatropha curcas fruits!.?.!Pearl.DSouza@timesofindia.com/ Dec 4, 2024, 23:53 IST Share AA + Text Size Small Medium Large Follow us Bengaluru: After a group of five ladies and 8 children were hospitalised from eating Jatropha curcas seeds in Chamarajanagar district last week, the food security commissionerate has cautioned about the possibility of public health being affected due to intake of harmful fruits.Commissioner of food safety, Srinivas K, stated while all parts of jatropha plants are dangerous, the seeds consist of a high concentration of ricin and are more harmful."The negative results after consuming the seeds are throwing up, diarrhoea, stomach pain and a burning feeling in the throat.
Vomiting and diarrhoea happen within fifteen minutes of usage. Also, considering that the seeds have an enjoyable taste, there is a possibility of a higher impact on the health of kids, "Srinivas warned about the evergreen tropical plant with thin stems.Thirteen members of Banjara (nomadic) community who were hospitalised at Kollegal taluk health center in Chamarajanagar were discharged in a day. One kid with intellectual disabilities was kept in observation before being discharged, district health officer, Chamarajanagar, Chidambara S told TOI.He stated
members of the community remained in Kollegal for sugarcane-cutting work.
